Jack Giddens 1 Shane Gore Chesham managed their third win in eight days with a comfortable victory over their Ryman League Premier Division opponents. Chesham were always in control of the game after Ryan Blake’s early goal, and a second goal midway through the second half killed the game as a contest.

Ashley Smith, Bruce Wilson and Dave Pearce were restored to the team after Tuesday night’s win over league leaders Poole Town, replacing George Casey, Sam Youngs and Matt Taylor, who was rested after starting every game so far this season. The pattern of the game was set early on, as Chesham started well and played the neater football. In the 16th minute they took the lead when a hasty clearance from Joe Ellul only got as far as Toby Little on the edge of the home area, and Little’s ball forward was seized on by Ryan Blake who shot low into the net past keeper Jack Giddens. Chesham continued to press but only threatened once more in the half, when Nick Beasant headed wide from Dave Pearce’s corner. Shortly afterwards Billericay had their best moment of the half, when Dymon Labonne’s right-wing cross was part-cleared by George Fenton as far as Teddy Nesbitt who shot over the bar. Towards half-time the game became more heated, and Billericay’s George Beavan was lucky that none of the officials saw him deliberately hit Kelvin Bossman in the face when the ball was out of play. Late in the half the home team put on the pressure, Nick Derry riding two tackles to advance into the Chesham area only to pass instead of shoot.

In the sixth minute of the second period Toby Little’s right-wing corner found Kelvin Bossman at the near post, whose effort came back off the bar. Just after the hour mark Billericay’s best chance of the game came when Curtis Ujah’s back-pass was seized on by Teddy Nesbitt, but Shane Gore blocked on the edge of the area and also turned away the follow-up from Mike Fondop-Talum. However Chesham went straight to the other end and Ashley Smith’s low cross found Kelvin Bossman, who seemed sure to score but Joe Ellul got in a desperate challenge to save the day. The resulting corner was cleared as far as the edge of the area, and Adam Martin shot goalwards but Giddens produced a great save to tip over. Midway through the half Chesham scored a second, when Dave Pearce and Toby Little combined down the left and Little’s ball into the near post was headed in by Ryan Blake. The home side attempted to come back with Derry crossing to Mike Fondop-Talum who could only head back across goal, then another shot from Fondop-Talum was pushed away by Shane Gore. However the home team seemed resigned to their fate, and late in the game Chesham had chances to add a third. Ashley Smith’s cross was headed by Brad Wadkins into the path of Sam Youngs whose header was cleared, then Bruce Wilson dribbled into the area and shot but Giddens saved comfortably.
