Kyle Moore 1 Shane Gore Chesham’s league season continues to drift after a goalless draw against the league’s bottom team.

Toby Little was kept out by the injury that saw him carried off at the end of last Tuesday’s game, while Nick Beasant injured a muscle in training, so Chesham reverted to a back four with Ben Ford coming in at left back after more than four months out. Sam Youngs and Stephan Hamilton-Forbes came in for Joe Gater and Matt Taylor, while Ryan Blake and Barry Hayles replaced Kabongo Tshimanga and Kelvin Bossman up front. On a cold and blustery afternoon there was little to cheer the travelling faithful in the first half. After 18 minutes Sam Youngs went for goal from a free kick on the left but his effort cleared the bar, then Bideford had their one worthwhile attack of the half but Angus Wilson headed high and wide from Billy Tucker’s right-wing cross. On 36 minutes a left-wing corner from Sam Youngs came to Curtis Ujah who could not direct his header on goal.

The early stages of the second half were little better. It was not until 66 minutes that there was an incident of note, when Sam Youngs’ free kick to the far post was headed back across goal by George Fenton but Dave Pearce could only head into the side netting. Chesham’s best moment came when Kelvin Bossman broke away down the left and pulled the ball back towards Ryan Blake but home keeper Kyle Moore just got to the ball first. Shortly afterwards Dave Pearce’s left-wing run ended with a sliced shot wide of the near post. Chesham began to exert some pressure late on and Curtis Ujah headed a Sam Youngs free kick straight at Moore, then George Fenton got on the end of a Ben Ford free kick but headed over. Chesham’s last effort came when sub Matt Taylor attempted a chip that was just over. Bideford had hardly threatened in the whole game, but deep in stoppage time sub Jamie Chamberlain broke down the home left and fired in an angled drive that flew just past the far post but Shane Gore seemed to have covered.
