Shane Gore 1 Denham Hinds Chesham moved closer to the top half of the table with a second home win in five days.

With George Fenton kept out by the injury sustained against Histon on Tuesday, Joe Gater came in to partner Curtis Ujah in central defence in the only change to the team. Chesham made another strong start, although Bedworth’s Jonathan Gould had the first effort on goal but dragged his shot wide of the near post. Chesham took the lead on 11 minutes when Sam Youngs crossed from the right touchline, the ball appeared to come off a defender and left Kelvin Bossman to tap in at the near post. Shortly afterwards Jordan Archer took advantage of some hesitation in the Chesham defence but blazed the ball across goal from wide on the right. However Chesham were looking the more dangerous, and on 27 minutes Dave Pearce split the visitors’ defence with a pass that Ryan Blake controlled and slotted past Denham Hinds to make it 2-0. Chesham looked in control but allowed Bedworth a way back into the game in first-half stoppage time, when Kelvin Bossman headed a Justin Marsden free kick into his own net at the near post.

After a quiet opening to the second half, Bedworth began to put pressure on the Chesham defence for the first time, and on 62 minutes Daniel Dubidat got to the by-line and squared for Jonathan Gould to equalise from close range. However the lead was to last only nine minutes, as Curtis Ujah got his head to a Dave Pearce corner, Hinds saved but Ryan Blake scored from the rebound. Bedworth desperately needed to get something from the game in their fight against relegation, and fifteen minutes from time Nathan McGarrity’s effort was blocked for a corner and Justin Marsden’s cross was just missed by Daniel Dubidat. Late in the game Iyseden Christie headed wide from a Justin Marsden free kick, which was to be Bedworth’s last effort. As stoppage time approached Barry Hayles broke clear but was tackled by Abdul Muhammad, who then fouled Hayles as he went for the loose ball. Dave Pearce tucked away the penalty to wrap up the win.
