Man of the Match:
Shane Gore
Shane Gore 1 Sam Hornby This performance did much to reduce the optimism following Chesham’s first two games.  Chesham’s defence got into a muddle straight from the kick-off to concede a penalty, which the team rarely looked like pulling back.

With five first-teamers still missing, the starting line-up and bench were unchanged.  Redditch kicked off and won a penalty after fifteen seconds, when Chesham gave the ball away thirty yards out and the visitors forced a scramble in the Chesham box which resulted in Dave Fotheringham clipping Jamie Molyneux. Ashley Sammons converted the penalty.  Redditch took heart from the early lead and Sammons set up Leavi Oshungbure who shot well over from just outside the area.  Chesham’s best chance came on 14 minutes, when Mark Bell’s corner was headed out to Simon Thomas whose first-time shot beat keeper Sam Hornby but hit the post and bounced across goal.  The remainder of the half was fairly dull, although Chesham briefly threatened a rally towards half time.  Ryan Blake went on a solo run and cut inside to shoot wide of the far post, then the ball dropped at the feet of Simon Thomas on the edge of the area and his left-foot shot had Hornby scrambling but went narrowly wide.

Chesham brought on Mark Nwokeji as an extra striker for the second half, but to little effect.  Shortly before the hour mark Redditch’s Jermaine Hylton crossed from the left to George Carline, who headed straight at Shane Gore with the goal gaping.  Eight minutes later Shane Gore dived to his right to save Ashley Sammons’ free kick, Simeon Maye turning the loose ball wide.  In the last quarter Mark Bell had a free kick deflected just wide, then Tommy Fletcher got on the end of David Lynn’s corner but could only turn the ball over the bar.  In the last minute of normal time Ashley Smith’s cross bounced in front of Josh Cooper who could only head the ball up in the air, then a Simon Thomas cross fell to Mark Nwokeji whose hurried shot flew over.  Deep into stoppage time Rikardo Reid broke away and squared to Ashley Sammons, whose shot was superbly tipped away by Shane Gore.
