Following the news at the end of the season that captain Danny Talbot had committed to the club for another year, and the recent contract extension for Andy Leese and Jon Meakes, we are delighted to announce that both Shane Gore and Steve Wales have signed two year contracts with Chesham United. Club chairman Alan Calder was delighted to secure the agreement and the contracts were signed last weekend. "The commitment of two such quality players shows the ambition we have as a club and is a fantastic start to the summer months as we look to build on the successes of last season, on and off the field. Both Shane and Steve have created interest from other clubs and I am delighted that they have chosen to stay with us for another two seasons. I lost count of the number of times last season that I heard opposition supporters and directors commenting that they believe we have the best goalkeeper and best midfielder in the league, I can't argue with that, and having them with us for another two seasons is a huge boost to our promotion push. "I know that Andy Leese is already getting commitment from other key players in the team and is also looking to strengthen in certain departments. The change from this time last year has been immense, with all the uncertainly about being a supporters run club we were bombarded with other clubs looking to take our best players away; twelve months on and things have gone the other way, top quality players are now asking to join us here at Chesham United." |

Chesham United's Suburban League youngsters beat Hellenic Division One side Chalfont Wasps last night to claim the Wycombe Senior Cup and bring a close to an excellent season for all the club's teams. Tonight the Chesham United Under 18s added the Brian Hitching's League Cup trophy to their Delphian Division title in the Southern Floodlit Youth League following a 4-3 win over Waltham Abbey at The Meadow. Chesham moved a point closer to Leamington in the race for the final play-off place after this draw, which effectively killed off Salisbury’s title hopes. Chesham added to their squad just ahead of the transfer deadline of 5pm on 31st March. Andy Leese has signed Aaron Couch a 22 year old Wycombe-based forward or wide player from Marlow. He has previously played at Chesham in the Youth set up, but joined Marlow in 2006 and was their 2007/08 Player of the Year. He has had trials with QPR and joined AFC Totton at the start of last season before joining Burnham. He returned to Marlow this year. A regular goalscorer, Andy was pleased to have signed Aaron: "He is an exciting player who has started to re-discover the form that attracted plenty of interest further up the Leagues. We needed to make sure we have the squad in place to see us through the exciting end to the season, and Aaron can play a big part in what we do. It is a step up for him, but having watched him a number of times I know he will fit into what we do and have an impact, and he is the type of player we want as we build for next season."
We have also signed utility player 20 year old Sean Fraser to offer us cover as we push for the play offs. Sean has previously played at Reading FC as an Academy player, Coventry and more recently Falkirk in Scotland. He has moved back to live locally and Andy took the opportunity to add him to the ranks subject to receiving international clearance. "You can always have good players around the place, and Sean has a good pedigree and a good attitude to the game. He is keen to rebuild his career after injury, and he is another one that we would like to look at ahead of next season. Sean would like to get back to full-time football, and we may be able to help him while he helps us."
Club captain Danny Talbot has committed his future to Chesham United by signing a new contract with The Generals for next season regardless of what happens in the remaining promotion campaign.
The 27 year old midfielder has made 190 appearances for United since making his debut in August 2007 and played 50 of the 57 games in last season's promotion winning campaign. This year he has missed just two matches as Chesham have surprised the new division by maintaining a second successive promotion challenge.
Chairman Alan Calder sees the signing as a reflection of the way Chesham United is striving to develop as a club. "I am delighted that Danny has agreed to commit to the club and continue on the journey we have set out on. "He has been an excellent captain of the club and I think it is important that we are starting to look towards next season and beyond as we build on the fantastic achievements of the team so far.
"We were very clear at the start of the season about how we envisaged the club as a whole operating, and the team have more than matched that vision. With Danny's commitment and Dave Fotheringham last week making his 300th appearance, we are really beginning to see the benefits of being a decent, honest and well-run club that encourages loyalty and longevity."
Manager Andy Leese is already planning for next season and wants to retain the team spirit at The Meadow that has already seen many players prove they are capable of stepping up a level. He believes they are ready to rise to the challenge should they go up once more.
"I am delighted Dan has committed to the club. We are trying to retain the consistency and quality within the squad, and getting the club captain on board will be a catalyst for others to stay and build on the last 2 season's progress. Dan has been around me as a player for over 5 years now, and he shows great consistency in his performances as well as a dedication to the game which is second to none. He has been a good leader on and off the field, and his standards and work ethic reflect what we want as a Management team. Never an easy task! We are working to get other players committed to the club, which will give us that continuity into next season, at whatever level we are playing."
Whatever happens over the closing stages, this has been a brilliant season that has exceeded the expectations of even the most optimistic Chesham fan. This defeat, against a Chippenham side that had won seven and drawn five of its previous thirteen league games, needs to be put into that context. This was a very similar game to the one at Didcot two weeks before, where Chesham looked comfortable until the home side scored with a free kick early in the second half, after which Chesham rarely threatened to get back into the game...Report

A hat-trick from Leon Archer put Chesham on the way to a comfortable win over crisis club Halesowen. The result of this game was rarely in doubt after Chesham took the lead in the opening minute, and the second goal just after the half-hour meant that Chesham were always in control.
With Rob Bartley suspended and Sam Ledger injured, Danny Gudgeon came into the centre of defence and Chris Watters made his first start at left-back. Recent signing James Dabbs made his debut as a second-half substitute. Halesowen have scrapped their entire playing budget which has led to a run of ten defeats in eleven games, in which they have scored three goals and conceded 40, so the home fans must have had a familiar feeling when Chesham took the lead after only 45 seconds. A neat passing move down the right created space for Paul Robinson on the right edge of the penalty area....Report

After Tuesday's game with Cirencester Darrell Cox re-signed Southern League forms with Chesham United. The 34 year old originally joined us in August 2008 and scored 25 goals in 68 appearances. He made a total of 25 appearances in last year's promotion campaign but was limited due to his work patterns. Although Darrell may not always be available he wanted to return to The Meadow and Andy Leese was keen to bring him back as a proven goal scorer who is great to have around the squad.
Chesham got back to winning ways after Saturday’s defeat with this comfortable success over lowly Cirencester. Chesham won without producing their best form as they were able to carve open the visitors’ defence with relative ease, and only for two minutes after Cirencester equalised was the result in any doubt.
After five appearances as a sub Paul Robinson was handed his first start in place of Chris Bangura, and it was a move that paid immediate dividends with a goal in the third minute. James Potton ran at the Cirencester defence and played the ball out to Steve Wales to his right.. Report
Chesham lost for the first time in two months on a difficult and at times unpleasant afternoon. Midway through the second half Chesham were 3-0 down and reduced to ten men, at which stage the game looked all over but a late fightback brought a very brief hope of a draw. With Hednesford first goal being a complete fluke and Chesham missing a penalty, this was an afternoon of might-have-beens.
There was one change to the starting line-up, Sam Ledger replacing Danny Gudgeon who was away for the weekend. Youth team player Brad Wadkins was given a place on the bench after signing senior forms in the week. The pitch was heavy after recent rain but was in reasonable condition considering a number of games in the area were called off... Report

This morning Chesham United completed the signing of striker Paul Robinson. Although Paul agreed terms earlier in the week as he had only recently moved from Windsor to Beaconsfield the move could not be confirmed until today when Southern League registration forms with Chesham could be submitted. He will be available for selection for today's visit by Truro City.
The 32 year old started his career at Darlington before joining Newcastle United in 1998 and making his Magpies debut the following year under Ruud Gullitt who selected him ahead of Alan Shearer for the derby game with Sunderland. He subsequently played for various Football League clubs including Wimbledon (where he played with current Chesham keeper Shane Gore), Grimsby Town, Blackpool, Hartlepool United and Torquay before moving into the non-league game. Earlier this season Paul made seven appearances for Windsor & Eton scoring six goals.
Andy Leese is delighted at bringing in a player he has been tracking for some time, "Paul is an experienced striker and now we've finally had the opportunity to sign him I'm sure he'll give us the attacking boost we've been looking for to continue our push forward over the rest of the season."

The Football Association has announced that Chesham United Football Club, along with Chesham United Girls & Ladies Football Club, have both been awarded the highest FA Charter Standard status of ‘Community Club’ from January 2011.
The Charter Standard Scheme is aimed at developing excellence in the provision of football for all, regardless of age, gender, religion and ability and has three
levels. Only about 10% of Charter Standard clubs have achieved this highest grading by achieving FA Community Club status. The award
is made in recognition of the excellence of coaching, welfare care offered, commitment to football development at all levels and quality of organisation of participating clubs.
The joint application was co-ordinated by Lisa Welling from the Girls & Ladies section who is also Welfare Officer for all the Chesham United teams. Club Chairman, Alan Calder, was delighted to receive the news. “We’re committed to developing Chesham United as a club representing our whole community and it’s great to get this recognition by the FA.”
First team manager Andy Leese is pleased that the work to develop the Youth set up at United is also starting to show results. “I think this is fantastic award for the Club, and demonstrates the progress we are making in providing the best opportunities for all local players.”

Since his arrival he has shown great professionalism and has played a key role in our excellent defensive record - second best in the league - that has enabled us to settle so comfortably at a higher level after promotion. It is a great boost to all of us to be able to work with players with such experience and recognition of the club's ambition". The new contract was also welcomed by manager Andy Leese: "Shane has been a fantastic signing for the club, and to get him committed is a major boost after going back into the play off spots again at the weekend. He has had to adapt to part time football after leaving Luton in the summer, but he has done it with the same standards he applied as a full time player. He is extremely focused, dedicated and hard working both in training and in games, and he has fitted in really well with the squad and how we work here." Shane is pictured signing his new contract with Alan Calder and Brian McCarthy.

Steve Wales returned to the side after passing a fitness test and Chris Bangura was available again, so they replaced Leon Archer and the injured Ricci Crace. Rob Bartley and Chris Elsegood were both carrying slight injuries so were rested in favour of Neil Sharp and Sam Ledger in defence. Chesham overcame the burden of playing for 77 minutes with ten men to force a replay with a 97th minute equaliser. Afterwards Wealdstone complained about the amount of time added on, but the result was fair as Chesham had earlier had a perfectly good goal disallowed.

Chesham carried on their great start to the season with this excellent performance in the FA youth Cup.

A draw was enough to keep Chesham in third place in the table after an entertaining encounter with Stourbridge. As the second half wore on it looked as if a draw would be the most that Chesham could hope for, but having got back into the game thanks to a gift equaliser, Chesham dominated the rest of the game and had plenty of chances to win but missed them all.
Danny Talbot was ruled out by the injury sustained at Windsor in midweek, so Dave Fotheringham captained the side, Sam Ledger started on the left with Chris Elsegood at right back and John Kyriacou pushed forward into midfield. Leon Archer also returned to the starting line-up...Report
Chesham went down to their second defeat of the season at mid-table Windsor & Eton. Chesham dominated the game for long spells but created only one real scoring chance in the whole game, whereas by contrast Windsor had only one chance in the game and scored from it.

Chesham cruised to their biggest win for two seasons. This game was effectively decided by three goals in fourteen minutes just before half-time, after which Chesham turned on the style in the second half and two late goals put the seal on a fine performance.
There was one enforced change to the starting line-up, Chris Bangura coming in for Ricci Crace who was starting a three-match suspension. Tiverton had an early chance when Joe Bushin was given a free header from Chris Vinnicombe’s free kick but headed over. Chesham started to press but had only a couple of half-chances, firstly when Steve Wales’ cross was headed out to Dave Fotheringham who was off-balance and shot high and wide, then Chris Elsegood headed on a Wales corner to Rob Bartley who headed over. Midway through the half Chesham gave away a needless free kick on the edge of the area, Liam Ellis’ shot was blocked and the rebound came to Russell Gee whose shot crashed against the bar and bounced out... Chesham got back to winning ways with this narrow but comfortable victory over a Bedford side still without a win this season. After taking the lead in their first worthwhile attack Chesham took control of the game, Bedford only briefly threatening a comeback in the closing moments of the first half. In the second half Chesham were always in control and had a third goal wrongly disallowed.
Chris Elsegood made his Chesham debut in place of Sam Ledger who was missing due to work commitments, Gabriel Fanibuyan was fit again and there were two further changes in the interests of squad rotation, Leon Archer and Ricci Crace replacing Chris Bangura and Steve Obeng. Chesham conceded their first goals of the season and lost their unbeaten record to a previously winless Banbury side. Chesham were on top for most of the opening half-hour and Banbury’s opener came against the run of play, but as the game wore on Chesham looked less and less likely to get back into the game.
Gabriel Fanibuyan had not recovered from the injury sustained in the midweek game at Swindon Supermarine, so Dom Marsala started in the only change to the line-up. Banbury had the edge in the opening ten minutes, but after that Chesham took control. Steve Wales hit a speculative effort that had Banbury keeper Joe Murrell back-pedalling but was just over the bar.. Report
After coming through three relatively difficult fixtures, Chesham dropped their first points of the season against a Swindon side who were only kept off the bottom of the table by Weymouth’s points deduction. Chesham are back on top of the Premier Division after a gap of six years. This victory made it three wins in three games, still without a goal conceded. Chesham have had no problems adjusting to the step up to the Premier Division, this win making it two out of two with two clean sheets. Chesham took an early lead and never looked like relinquishing it, wrapping the game up with a second twelve minutes from time.

Chesham made the rest of the division sit up and take notice with this opening day win against a Truro side expected to be among the title favourites. Chesham were deserved winners although the winning margin was slightly flattering. Apart from a five-minute spell shortly before half-time the home team rarely troubled the Chesham defence while Chesham always looked likely to add to their tally once Steve Wales had broken the deadlock.
New signings Chris Elsegood and Ricci Crace were missing because of suspensions carried over from last season, while Danny Gudgeon started a three-match ban for his dismissal at Barton last season, and Leon Archer was still away. Dear All at Chesham United
,My name is Neil Stanley. David was my Dad. I came to Chesham many years ago when my Dad worked as club secretary for Chesham United.
I have many fond memories of watching two wonderful Chesham sides during the 1992-93 season. By that I mean the Saturday side and the midweek side. Personally I think Dad thought that the Saturday side were perhaps the better. I know that Dad thoroughly enjoyed his time at Chesham. He liked being a part of a successful and friendly club. I can recall wonderful people at the club such as Charlie Dunkerton, Steve Bateman and Alan Randall. The playing staff through to the gentleman who cleaned the stands are forever entrenched in my memory.I have many treasured memories of those days accompanying Dad to work. I can recall driving through the town and up towards the stadium past the cricket ground. My Dad thoroughly enjoyed his football. He was always happiest when surrounded by passionate non league football supporters and players. Dad was very fond of Chesham United football club and the people connected with it.
I would like to thank Chesham United for the tributes on your website concerning the death of my Dad. Currently I am living in Asia and was hugely comforted by the kind words expressed in your obituary to him. Also, the club were represented at my Dad's funeral. I know he would have been flabbergasted to see so many people in attendance. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the club and those present for your kindness. I would like to wish Chesham United all the very best for the coming season. I hope that your 'Community day' goes extremely well. On that note, my brothers and I were very touched to hear that the club had honoured Dad with an annual match played in his memory. Sadly I will not be able to attend this inaugural match against Hendon.
Thank you once again for all you have done personally and as a club for my Dad and to help my brothers and I with our loss. David Stanley's passing is a loss to his family and friends, and to non league football. All three of which he loved so dearly.
Thank you for your time,
Neil Stanley

For 2010/11 Chesham United Supporters' Trust (CUST) is giving everyone a chance to take part in the popular Golden Goal competition at both home AND AWAY matches by introducing a new Golden Goal Season Ticket. CUST Chairman Giles Stevenson announced "The idea of having a season ticket for golden goals, we confess, came about from the successful scheme ran by Aylesbury United last season - looking at what other clubs do is often the best way to arrive at ideas".
The idea is that for £25 a supporter can 'sponsor a minute' for the whole season, covering all 42 league games and the first 6 cup games of the season. Whenever the first goal of a game is scored in that particular minute the sponsor will win £22.50. "At Chesham we have fantastic travelling support for away games, and we know there is a huge amount of interest from non-travelling fans who are following on the website or awaiting text updates on their mobile phones" continued Giles "This way, there is now even more added interest with the golden goal covering away matches too. Overall entrants have more chances of winning more money for less...plus it works out to be a good fundraiser for the club enabling all supporters to take part in the golden goal competition rather than just those that are in the bar area before a match"

Following the untimely passing last month of former secretary David Stanley, Chesham United Football Club will be dedicating their Community Open Day on Saturday 7th August to his memory.
The Generals host Hendon in a pre-season friendly at 3pm which will mark the inaugural contest for the David Stanley Memorial Shield. This is set to become an annual competition amongst clubs with which David was associated. As one of the best-known figures in the local football scene, David was also chairman of the Suburban League and had held positions at many clubs including Hendon, Barnet, Berkhamsted Town and Hemel Hempstead Town. Chesham United chairman, Alan Calder, hopes that as many of David’s friends and colleagues as possible will be able to attend: “David had an amazing passion for football at all levels and worked tirelessly on behalf of so many clubs to help them continue playing the sport he so loved. His knowledge of the game at this level is second to none. It is fitting on a day when we will be opening our club up to the local community that he should be remembered and honoured.”
The match will be free of charge and will provide the centre piece for the annual Open Day at Chesham United where a wide range of community organisations are invited to come along as guests of the club to set up stalls alongside a host of other attractions on the day. Gates open from 1pm
“We are back training and preparing for the new season, and the players look in great condition. We are conscious we have a game next week, and we have had to prepare with that in mind as we look to get the balance between players having the ball at their feet again, and general conditioning work. Adam Parker has returned to us again in pre season, and will be overseeing the work we do along with Jon. We had a great pre season last year, and we are trying to repeat the best bits of that as well as adding some new routines and ideas. Adam likes the club and he is a lively character around the place, so inviting him back was an easy decision. We will see how he shapes on the playing side, but his ambition lies in coaching and managing and he can work around a great group of players at Chesham. I value experienced players around the place, and with Ollie Adedeji finally retiring, we needed another experienced head. Ollie has eased out of the game at nearly 40 years of age, although he’s threatening to join us in pre season! People thought he’d retired when we signed him in March 2009, but he’s shown us why he had a fantastic career with his commitment, fitness levels and general reading of the game. Ollie is one of a dying breed in the Non League game, and I hope his attitude and application has rubbed off on some of our younger players in his time with us. I am sure I speak for all of the Managers’ who have worked with him when I say he has been an absolute credit to the Non League game over a very long career.”

Following last night's training session we are pleased to announce that two new players have agreed terms for the new season.
Chris Elsegood, 27, captained Marlow last season and has been a long term target for Andy Leese: He is a player we have been interested in for some time and was widely recognised as one of the best defenders in our league last season, says Andy, I'm delighted that he has chosen to join us for the challenge of the Premier Division this year. Chris has wide experience of our new level and above having previously played for Maidenhead United, Hayes and Hornchurch before joining Marlow two years ago.
Neil Sharp, 31, is another highly experienced central defender who has played in the Football League for Swansea and at Conference level for Woking and, most recently, Havant & Waterlooville. At Havant he made 117 Conference appearances and featured in their memorable FA Cup run when they met Liverpool in a 4th round tie at Anfield in 2008. Like Chris, Neil will be a major influence at Chesham next year, says Andy. He lives locally (in Chipperfield) and, despite interest from clubs at a higher level, wants to play nearer to home and will be a great addition to our squad. Neil is also the cousin of one of our Youth team players, George Fenton.
A very warm welcome to both Chris and Neil.
Our new Reserve Team Manager Geoff Glasgow is looking for new players to play in The North Division of the Suburban League in the coming season. This is a Saturday team with the odd fixture on Wednesday evenings.

Following the Open Meeting earlier this month to outline the structure of the football club for the 2010/11 season, Chairman Alan Calder is delighted to confirm that the final piece to the jigsaw has been found with the appointment of Martin Woolnough as Community Officer.
Alan Calder confirmed: "Martin fits the bill perfectly for what we are looking to achieve; he already has a number of key contacts in the town, has an active involvement in the club and fully understands the community ambition of Chesham United FC. Martin's brief is to build on these relationships within the community to get Chesham United playing a much closer and more active role in activities, whilst also reminding the town of Chesham about the facilities and football we have on offer here just off Amy Lane.
"With a full structure now in place" Alan continued "we are confident that we have the model set up for running a football club at this level, now the real work begins, it is imperative that everyone involved gets to work on making the model deliver the goods. The country is deflated at the moment following another humiliating England display by players earning the sort of wages that make your eyes water, this should be seen as an opportunity for non-league clubs up and down the country to market themselves as a very real alternative for fulfilling that football fix. That is something we very much want to offer the people of Chesham and the surrounding area." Updated Structure Chart here
The close season has been a busy and interesting time as ever. It has upto now been the usual routine of gossip, hype, clubs selling the dream to players, and, not surprisingly, players at all levels weighing up their options in this changing financial and economic climate. I have learnt that patience is the key each summer to build a balanced squad and as importantly, secure the right type of players that fit with the philosophy we have as a Management team and as a club. We have a nucleus of excellent players, many of whom have played at the level we are at, a great spirit in the dressing room, and players who are here for the right reasons. That is important as much for Chesham supporters as for the rest of us. They do not want to see wholesale changes as they did the last time the club was in this Division. We have spent 3 years slowly building the squad, and the continuity means we do not have to add too much each close season... Full Update

A big thank you to everyone who attended the Open Meeting, it was good to see so many people in attendance and re-assuring that our vision of how the football club should be run is shared by others. I never really doubted that, the challenge is turning the theory into reality.
One thing to arise from the meeting was the need to make those involved in running the club more visible and more accessible; we are in the process of getting contact details and pictures of the Board and Department heads onto the website, and into the programme for next season...and even visible in the clubhouse.....Read More

We will be holding an Open Meeting at The Chess Suite to update fans on all areas of Chesham United, plans for future development, and to give you the chance to ask any questions and offer suggestions about how the club is developed. This will take place from 7.30pm on Wednesday 9th June. Following on from the Open Meeting section, Andy Leese will bring us all up to speed with his plans for the new Premier Division campaign. We hope to see you all there.
Winners last night at the Allied Counties Youth Team awards were

Players player of the Year George Fenton
Our season may be over but there's a huge summer of football ahead. All England's matches will be shown on the big projector screen in The Chess Suite. Families and children are all welcome to come along for the big match atmosphere. England's first game is versus the USA on Saturday 12th June - that's carnival day in Chesham so have a great day out and then come and cheer England to victory at the club.
Having guided Chesham United to promotion via the play-offs last season, Chesham United has agreed a new two-year contract with Manager Andy Leese and his assistant Jon Meakes.
Commenting on the new arrangement Andy Leese says: "Now that promotion has sunk in, and the new League constitution is clear, Jon and I have agreed a new 2 year deal which will see us continue the journey at Chesham.
It is a great club to be part of, and I hope that some of the new support we had in the play off games will return to see us next season. I am delighted we have the opportunity to continue to build on what we have achieved in the last 3 years, and everyone benefits from the continuity."
New Chairman Alan Calder revealed that the Board were delighted that Andy has agreed to stay and take on the challenge of performing in a higher division: "Andy and I have been in constant communication since the end of last season, making sure that we have a full understanding of what Chesham United is trying to achieve and how we anticipate moving forward. We are fortunate to have a Manager who gives 100% to the job, wants to play the style of football we believe the people of Chesham like to watch and, just as importantly, wants to be a part of the football family we are looking to create at Chesham. We have also talked about the Youth and Reserves sides for next year, and how they can play an important role in continuing to develop our role within the community."
With the contract signed Andy Leese has already been turning his attention to looking at the squad: "We know we have to work harder than last season to establish ourselves in the Southern League Premier Division, but we have a number of players who have played at that level, and I will look to strengthen where we can. I am hoping we keep the majority of the current squad, and it is my intention to strengthen our Reserve team set up to make sure we attract the best of the young talent in the area. We want to be competitive in the new division, and the new Chairman has given us the resources to do that. The hard work starts here! "
Excellent night on Saturday. Thanks once again to Alan for organising the night and to all those who did the catering. Congratulations to all the winners and the whole squad for a fantastic season. A special award was also made to Charles to acknowledge the marvellous contribution he has made in his time as Chairman.

I have decided to step down as a director and as chairman of Chesham United, effective after Saturday’s end of season awards.
I got involved at the club just over 4 years ago when it was facing insolvency. I said at the time that it hasn’t been a lifelong ambition of mine to own a football club – I just wanted to help solve the club’s crisis. Now seems an appropriate time to move on.
The club has come a long way, both on and off the pitch. If we look back to mid-February 2006, relegation was almost inevitable – we hadn’t won a game for several months. Since then, we’ve had exciting cup runs in both FA Cup and FA Trophy under Andy Leese’s management, beating some much higher placed teams. We’ve always been there or thereabouts in the battle for promotion and, on Saturday, we achieved that promotion in front of over 1,000 people.... Full Statement
